Generating a Utilization Report
The utilization report provides volume and billing data for all of the tests that have been ordered for one or more clients of one or more labs for both the preceding month and preceding 12 months. (For example, if you generate this report on October 15, you could view the data for September 1–30, as well as the data since September of the previous year).
You can export this report as either a PDF file, Excel spreadsheet, or comma-separated values (CSV) file. No matter which format you use, the report includes the following information:
• Business unit (lab) name
• Client name
• Client number
• Service name (the name of the test ordered)
• Invoiced service code (the order code)
• Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code(s) for each test
• Current month volume (the number of times the test was ordered in the preceding month)
• Current month $ (the amount of money billed for the test in the preceding month)
• 12-month volume (the number of times the test was ordered in the preceding 12 months)
• 12-month $ (the amount of money billed for the test in the preceding 12 months)
If the report includes a negative dollar amount, that reflects a credit to the client.
