Changing the Facility

When you log in, the facility code and name last used on the computer you are using displays in the bar at the top of the page below the menus. In addition, your facility’s code, name, address, telephone number, and type appear on the Home page. (To access the Home page at any time, click Home in the information bar.)

If you need to change the facility (for example, if you are a mobile phlebotomist placing orders for different PSCs), you can do so at any time. Changing the facility might affect the tasks that you can perform using eLabs. For example, if you are currently logged in to an IOP facility and you change to a PSC facility, you can no longer put an order on PSC hold, filter the requisition log by client, or order client supplies. Conversely, if you are currently logged in to a PSC facility and you change to an IOP facility, you can no longer specify the patient visit type or filter the requisition log by facility.

If you are a PSC employee or an IOP, you can change the facility using either the Facility list at the top of any page or the Change Facility page. If you use the Facility list, you can easily choose any facility for which orders have previously been placed. If you use the Change Facility page, you must know the facility code, and you can view the new facility’s address to confirm that it is the correct one before you change to it, as well as see whether the new facility is a PSC or IOP facility. (You cannot change to any known facility type other than PSC or IOP.)

If you are a contracted phlebotomist, you can only use the list at the top of the page to change the facility, and your options are limited to the facilities that are assigned to you.

After you change the facility, you return to the page that you were previously viewing. For example, if you were viewing the requisition log for the facility TP, and you changed to the facility LTP, you would once again see the requisition log.

If you change the facility and then log off, you will automatically access the new facility the next time you log into that same computer. When logging in to a different computer, your facility will be changed to the last facility used on that computer.

Notes:  

If you accessed a particular page by clicking a link, button, or icon (such as a favorite link on the Home page), or if the last page that you accessed appeared in a separate window (such as the Contact Us page), then when you change the facility, you see your default landing page rather than the page that you were previously viewing. You can return to the page that you were previously viewing only if you accessed it from the information bar or menu bar, and only if it did not appear in a separate window. (You can set your default landing page via your user profile.)

For some labs, you can view your facility but not change it.
