Transferring a Filed Order to the Hold List

Under certain circumstances, you can transfer a filed order to the hold list. When this occurs, all of the order codes in the original filed order are replaced with the code used by the lab to identify transferred orders, and a new order is added to the hold list. The new order contains all of the information from the original order, except for the arrival time, visit type, report comments, ABN order code, fasting status, specimen collection information, urine volume and duration, technician’s initials, and accession number (if any). Whether or not the new order uses any existing lab reference ID depends on the client. In addition, an internal comment is added to the new order, indicating the requisition number of the original filed order. (If the filed order included an internal comment, as much of this new comment as possible is appended to it.)

In the requisition log, an order transferred to hold can be identified by the following:

appears next to the requisition number for the original order.

The status of the order is Edited.

The Profiles/Tests area displays only the order code used by the lab to identify a transferred order.

The Modifications area displays information about the date, time, and initiator of the transfer.

The Archived Requisition area displays information about the original order.

The Transferred to Hold area displays the requisition number of the order that was put on the hold list.

In addition, the only actions that you can perform are to print the requisition or view any attachments.

When the order that was transferred to the hold list is filed, in the requisition log, the Audit History area displays information about the order that was put on hold, and the Transferred to Hold area displays the requisition number of the original order that was transferred.

Note: You can transfer a filed order to the hold list only under the following circumstances:

You can place orders with the associated lab and client.

The lab with which the order was filed supports this feature, and you are accessing that lab.

The order was filed within the past 24 hours.

The order is not a generic or Companion Diagnostics order.

The order was not previously transferred to the hold list.

In addition, any payment that was made for the original filed order must be canceled manually using your usual procedure.
