View Advisory Messages

1 In the menu bar, click Results > Advisory Messages.

Note: The Results menu appears only if you are allowed to view patient test results. The Advisory Messages menu item appears only if the lab supports this feature.

2 If you are accessing an IOP facility, in the Client list, click the client for which you want to view advisory messages.

Your default client is selected automatically. You can change your default client via your user profile.

If you are accessing a PSC facility, type the client number in the Client box.

If you do not know the complete client number, follow these steps:

a Click the Client Lookup link.

b In the Search by area, click the appropriate option button (Name, Number, or Phone).

c In the Search String box, type a portion of the client’s name, client number, or telephone number.

d Click Query.

All clients that match the specified information appear in the search results list, which displays the client number, name, telephone number, and street address.

e To select a specific client, click the client number, or click anywhere in the row and then click Select.

3 In the Start and End boxes, type the appropriate date, or click the date on the calendar.

For example, to limit the list to data from the first three months of the year, you would type 01/01/2020 in the Start box and 03/31/2020 in the End box.

Tip: You can use any of the following shortcuts to specify the date:

Type t for today’s date.

Type y for yesterday’s date.

Type t-# (where # is the number of days prior to today). For example, type t-7 to specify one week prior to today.

Note: You cannot view advisory messages for data that has been archived. If the specified starting date is earlier than the oldest report in the system, a message advises you of the earliest possible starting date. Click OK and type that date or a later date in the Start box

4 If the lab supports both TNPs and TIQs, select the Include TNP reports check box, the Include TIQ reports check box, or both, depending on what information you want to include in the advisory report.

If you select the Include TNP reports check box, the advisory report will include information about tests that were not performed because it was not possible to do so (for example, if the amount of specimen collected was not sufficient or viable) or because the order was canceled.

If you select the Include TIQ reports check box, the advisory report will include information about tests that were not performed because the lab was uncertain about how to proceed (for example, if the physician sent two specimens but ordered only one test).

If the lab does not support both TNPs and TIQs, these check boxes do not appear, and only TNPs are included in the advisory report.

5 In the Sort By area, click the option button that indicates how the retrieved results should be sorted (Requisition Number, Patient Name, or Accession Number):

6 Click Search.

All of the matching reports appear at the bottom of the page.

7 Do one or more of the following:

View the advisory messages. Click the Detail tab to see the complete advisory message for each listed item.

Find text. To search for a specific word or phrase, type any text in the box at the top of the tab, and then click Find Text. The specified text (if found) is highlighted. You can click Find Text multiple times to find each instance of the specified text.

Print the advisory message list. To print the information displayed on the page (that is, the data on the Summary or Detail tab, whichever is active), click Print, make any appropriate changes on the Print dialog box, and then click Print.

Print the test results. To print the entire report for a specific patient, click the Print This Report link next to the patient’s name. On the Print dialog box, make any appropriate changes, and then click Print. Alternatively, if you want to review the report before printing it, click Cancel. A printable version of the report appears in a separate window.

The procedure for browsing or printing the report varies, depending on your version of Adobe Reader.

To return to the advisory message list, click Close, or simply close the separate window.
