Access a Patient’s Report History

1 In the menu bar, click Results > Patient Report History.

Note: The Results menu appears only if you are allowed to view patient test results. The Patient Report History menu item appears only if your current lab supports this feature.

2 In the Requesting Lab list, click a lab with which an order has been placed for the patient whose report history you want to view.

This list includes only your assigned labs that allow access to test results that were ordered by other healthcare providers.

3 To use a different client as the requesting client, choose the appropriate one in the Requesting Client list.

When you search for the patient, the search will not be limited to the selected client. It encompasses all of your assigned clients at the selected requesting lab.

If you subsequently import a patient report, this client will be identified as the requesting client.

4 In the following list, click the option that you want to use to search for the patient (Name, SSN, or PID).

5 If you clicked Name, type at least three characters of the patient’s last name in the adjacent box. (If you type fewer than three characters, only exact matches will be retrieved.)

If you clicked SSN or PID, type the patient’s complete SSN (with or without the hyphens) or complete patient ID.

Note: When searching for a patient by name, you can use any of the following formats:

LastName (such as Doe)

LastName, FirstName (such as Doe, John)

FirstName LastName (such as John Doe)

You can also optionally include a space and the patient’s date of birth, including a forward slash (such as Doe 9/21/1958 or Doe,J 9/21/1958).

If the patient’s first name contains a space, you must specify the last name first. For example, to find Mary Ann Doe, you must type Doe, Mary Ann. If you type Mary Ann Doe, the application will assume that the last name begins with Ann.

If the patient’s last name contains a space, you must include a comma after it. For example, to find John Da Silva, you must type at least Da Silva, J. If you just type Da Silva, the application will assume that Da is the first name and Silva is the last name.

6 Click Search.

A list of the first 1000 matching patients appears. If no matching patients were found, a message advises you of this. If the information that you specified was incorrect (for example, if you clicked Name and then typed an identification number), search for the patient again using the correct information.

Tips:

To set the search option to Name and clear any text you typed, click Reset.

For both the list of matching patients and the subsequent list of matching reports, you can do any of the following:

To display more items per page, click the number to view in the list (5, 10, 50, 100, or All).

To go to a particular page, type the page number in the box and press Enter. You can also click the arrow buttons to go to the next or previous page, or to the beginning or end of the list (if applicable).

To sort the search results, click any column heading (except Action). You can click the column heading again to reverse the sort order.

After you have retrieved the patient, you can optionally change the requesting lab and client so that you can import reports for that lab and client, even if no orders have been placed for the patient there.

7 In the Action column, click Select Patient for the patient whose report history you want to view.

8 On the Treatment Role Acknowledgement dialog box, click I Accept.

The page displays a list of the available reports from all of the participating labs within the past two years.

Tip: To return to the previous page so that you can specify a different patient or requesting lab or client, click Back.

9 To limit the list of reports to a specific date range based on when the test was ordered, in each Ordered Date box, type the start date and end date, or click the date on the calendar, and then click Filter.

The start date cannot be more than two years in the past.

Tips:

You can also use any of the following shortcuts to specify the date:

Type t for today’s date.

Type y for yesterday’s date.

Type t-# (where # is the number of days prior to today). For example, type t‑5 to specify the date five days prior to today.

To clear the dates in the Ordered Date boxes, click Reset.

10 Select the check box next to each report that you want to access.

To select all of the reports, select the check box in the column heading row. (This selects all of the retrieved reports, not just the ones on the page that you are currently viewing.)

11 Do one or more of the following:

To view and optionally print the selected reports, click Print Selected.

The procedure to use for printing this material depends on which version of Adobe Reader you have.

When you have finished viewing or printing the reports, click Back to return to the list of available reports.

To import the reports so that you can access them later via the Patient Results page for the specified requesting lab and client, click Import Selected.

It might take a few moments for the reports to be delivered. Whether a particular report is identified as a new report depends on whether or not the report was reviewed by the original client.
