Add, Edit, or Delete a Generic AOE Question via Order Entry

1 As described in Placing an Order via Legacy Order Entry, initiate an order, add or retrieve a patient who uses a generic carrier, click Next, and then do one of the following:

If favorite generic tests have been identified, click the group where the appropriate test resides.

Search for the generic test for which you want to define an AOE question.

In the Order Codes box, type a complete or partial order code or test name, and then click Search.

By default, the system will search for the specified text only until an exact match is found. (For example, if you type 123, the search stops as soon as order code 123 is found.) To see a list of all of the matching items even if an exact match is found, include an asterisk (*) in the code or name. For example, to find all order codes that begin with 123 (such as 123, 1231, 1232, etc), you could type 123*. To find all order codes that end with 123 (such as 123, 1123, 2123, etc), you could type *123.

If you did not include an asterisk in the code or name, and an exact match was found, the search stops. If you included an asterisk in the code or name, or if an exact match was not found, all of the matching codes appear in the Order Codes area. If you did not include an asterisk, the specified search string is highlighted in yellow.

Up to 15 matching tests are displayed. If more than 15 matching tests were found, click More to see the additional tests.

If you cannot find the appropriate generic test, you might have to add it to the system.

2 Click next to the appropriate generic test, and then click Generic Req AOE.

The Generic Req AOE dialog box displays any AOE questions currently associated with that test. If no questions have been defined, only the Add General Information Question check box appears.

3 Do one or more of the following:

Add or remove a general information question. Select or clear the Add General Information Question check box.

If you select this option, an area labeled General Information appears at the bottom of the AOE tab on the Verify Order Code Info dialog box when you order this test.

If you clear this option, the General Information box does not appear.

Add a specific question. Click Add Question and in the empty box, type the question that should appear on the AOE tab on the Verify Order Code Info dialog box when you order this test.

Change an existing question. In the appropriate box, make any changes to the existing text.

Change the order of the questions. To move a question up higher in the list, click next to the appropriate question. To move a question lower in the list, click .

If a question is the first or only question in the list, the up arrow is inactive. Likewise, if a question is the last or only question in the list, the down arrow is inactive.

Delete a specific question. Click after the question that you want to delete.

Delete all questions for a test. Click Remove All Questions for the appropriate test. When the confirmation message appears, click OK.

If the Add General Information Question check box was selected, it is automatically cleared.

4 Click Save.

Any changes that you made to the AOE questions are saved, even if you subsequently cancel the order.

If you add this generic test to the order, you will be prompted to respond to any defined AOE questions before you can file the order.
