Updating Defective Orders
eLabs provides in-office phlebotomist (IOP) users with several tools that allow them to easily update defective orders using information obtained from clients, including the Defective Orders page. The Defective Orders page enables IOP users to directly view, print, and edit defective orders. It provides information identical to what is found on the Work List – PDF and PECOS Report – PDF reports, which can be generated from Report Manager and used for gathering needed information from the client.
The Work List – PDF report includes filed orders (for the current day) that include one or more order code(s) requiring an Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN), for which an additional diagnosis is required. The PECOS Report – PDF report includes all filed orders (for the current day) for the selected facility with an ordering provider who is not registered for PECOS. From the Defective Orders page, IOP users can print the same reports, while also viewing and updating orders directly, rather than having to manually search and edit orders from the requisition log.
