Verifying Insurance Eligibility
During order entry, eligibility verification occurs only under the following circumstances:
• Your user account was configured by an administrator to perform this action.
• Bill Type is set to Insurance.
• The patient’s primary or secondary carrier has provided Quest Diagnostics with eligibility data.
No matter how your user account is configured, you can manually check a patient’s insurance eligibility at any time. In addition, if the carrier has an independent practice association (IPA) sub-plan that restricts coverage, you can determine whether or not the patient is covered according to the terms of that sub-plan.
You can display the Eligibility Query page in either your current browser window or a separate window or tab. (Whether the page appears in a window or tab depends on your browser and its configuration.) Displaying the page in a separate window or tab enables you to verify the patient’s insurance eligibility without interrupting work on your current page.
