Working with ABN and AWN Validation Reports

An ABN or AWN validation report is an Excel spreadsheet that indicates how many ABN or AWN forms were properly completed (either on paper or electronically) and how many were not for orders filed with each specified region and lab. If data are retrieved for all regions and labs, the report also includes totals for all of Quest Diagnostics.

This report can be limited to data from only facilities, only clients, or both. It can also be limited to 1 or more specific regions, labs, facilities, or clients. (Data can be reported only for those labs that collect this information. For example, if the Tampa lab prompts PSC employees about whether or not they completed the ABN form but does not prompt clients about that, then a report for that lab that is limited to clients will not contain any data.)

You can optionally include additional columns of information in the report, such as the facility code and name, client number and name, name of the person who filed the order, requisition number, accession number, date and time when the order was filed, date and time when the validation response was given, whether or not a check box was selected on the ABN or AWN form, whether or not the form was signed and dated, and the reason why any of those actions was not taken.

If data are retrieved for all regions and labs, the first row of the report includes a summary for all of Quest Diagnostics. The rest of the report is sorted first by region, then by lab. If any columns are included, the data for each lab is sorted by the date and time when the order was filed.

If a filed order is edited via the requisition log, the ABN or AWN validation report reflects the last response given to the prompt. For example, when filing an order, the phlebotomist might indicate that the form was not signed. If the filed order is subsequently edited and the response is changed to indicate that the form was signed, then the ABN or AWN validation report would count that order among the orders for which the form was properly completed.

This report can be run one time, or can be scheduled to run on daily, weekly or monthly intervals. You can create a maximum of 3 recurring reports. After 6 months, recurring reports expire and must be resubmitted to continue running. You will receive a reminder email 1 week before a report expires.

This report may be emailed to you at the email address that Quest Diagnostics has on file for you, if applicable. This report may also be emailed to any Quest Diagnostics employee using a company email address (for example, @QuestDiagnostics.com or @AmeriPath.com). Multiple recipients must be separated by commas.
