Working with Defective Order Reports
The defective order reports are accessible only by in-office phlebotomist (IOP) users, and include the following:
• Work List - PDF and Work List - Excel
• PECOS Report - PDF and PECOS Report - Excel
• Defective Orders Report
The Work List and PECOS reports are either a PDF file or an Excel spreadsheet that allow an IOP user to obtain missing information from clients. A Work List report is used for obtaining an additional diagnosis to support the medical necessary of corresponding Medicare limited coverage policy, while a PECOS report indicates that an ordering provider is not PECOS registered. A separate page is included for each applicable requisition. By default, reports are printed for the current day's requisitions only, and include only those requisitions that have not yet been printed (if the report is generated multiple times within the day).
Each PDF report prints a default set of data in user-friendly format, but when you request the Excel report, you can specify what data you want to include, as well as the output type (either formatted or unformatted). You can also request a new report based on previously defined criteria and make any changes that you want.
The Defective Orders Report is an Excel spreadsheet that allows an IOP user to review a summary of defective orders that have been created and/or resolved. The report can be filtered by specifying a date range, one or more labs, and one or more facilities.
Each report can be run one time, or can be scheduled to run on daily, weekly or monthly intervals. You can create a maximum of three recurring reports. After six months, recurring reports expire and must be resubmitted to continue running. You will receive a reminder email 1 week before a report expires.
Each report may be emailed to you at the email address that Quest Diagnostics has on file for you, if applicable. This report may also be emailed to any Quest Diagnostics employee using a company email address (for example, @QuestDiagnostics.com or @AmeriPath.com). Multiple recipients must be separated by commas.

Notes: • The Date Requested column in the Generated Reports area displays the date and time that the request to generate the report was submitted; the second row of the report itself displays the date and time when the report generation was complete. Depending on the amount of data in the report, these dates or times could be significantly different. • If you requested more data than can be displayed in your version of Excel, a message appears. You must change the criteria and submit a new request. |
