Create Batches
1 Do one of the following:
• In the information bar, click Home and then click the Requisitions to be Batched link in the Quick View area.
• In the menu bar, click Requisitions > Batch Processing.
Notes: • The number on the Home page indicates the total number of orders in the batch queue for all of the clients that you can access. The number of orders in the queue for each individual client varies. • The Requisitions menu appears only if you can place orders with your current lab. The Batch Processing menu item appears only if you have been assigned a client that supports batching. |
2 In the Client list, click the client for which you want to create batches.
The Batch Processing page displays all of the orders currently in the batch queue for the selected client, including the transport temperature of the collected specimen, the requisition number, the date and time that the specimen was collected, patient demographic information, and the order code and test name.
3 If necessary, edit or delete any of the listed orders, or move them from the batch queue to the hold list by putting them on hold. For more information, see Edit, Hold, or Delete an Order in the Batch Queue.
4 Select the Omit check box for each order that you want to omit from the batches.
Note: For orders that included an alternate order code, the Omit check box is automatically selected and inactive, and an Attention: Please Edit message appears. To include this order in the batch, you must click Edit to automatically replace the alternate code with the primary code, and then file the order. (For more information, see Placing an Order.) After you have done this, you can repeat steps –4. At this point, the Omit check box will no longer be automatically selected and inactive. |
5 Click Create Batches.
A separate batch is created for each transport temperature group. If a particular transport temperature group contains more than the maximum number of orders supported by the lab for a batch, the group is split into multiple batches.
6 When the confirmation message appears, click OK.
The message displays the batch number associated with each batch created, and the orders are sent to the lab.
In addition, the batch manifest and Print dialog box appear.
7 To print the batch manifest, make any appropriate changes on the Print dialog box and then click Print.
Alternatively, if you want to review the manifest before you print it, click Cancel and go to the next step.
8 Do one or more of the following:
• To browse through or print the manifest, use the appropriate procedure for your version of Adobe Reader.
• To return to the Batch Processing page, click Back.
At this point, the Current Batches tab is active, and you can reprint the batch manifest.
