Add or Change a Preauthorization Code

1 Access the requisition log, change the filter criteria if necessary, and then click Search (as described in Filter the Requisition Log).

Tip: To retrieve all filed orders that require a preauthorization code, click Pre-Authorization Orders in the Order Type list. This includes both orders that have preauthorization codes and those that do not.

Alternatively, click Home and then click Pre-Authorization Requests to be Reviewed in the Quick View area. (This link appears only if at least one filed order is missing a preauthorization code.) The requisition log then displays a list of all orders filed for all of your assigned clients at your current lab within the past 30 days that require a preauthorization code.

The number on the Home page might not match the number of retrieved orders in the requisition log. The Home page number reflects the total number of tests that are missing a preauthorization code rather than the total number of orders that require preauthorization. In addition, the Home page number reflects all filed orders, not just those filed within the past 30 days.

2 Position the pointer over the Actions link for the appropriate order, and then click Edit Pre-Auth.

Note: The Edit Pre-Auth menu item appears only if the order contains at least one test that requires preauthorization.

3 For each listed test, type the appropriate preauthorization code.

Tip: If a test name is too long to display in its entirety, an ellipsis (...) appears. You can position the pointer over the displayed information to see the complete information.

4 Click OK.
