Manage Favorites via Setup

1 In the menu bar, click Setup > Favorites Maintenance.

Note: The Setup menu does not appear if you cannot place orders with your current lab.

2 To manage your favorite tests, go to step 3.

To manage your favorite diagnoses, click the Diagnoses tab. To manage your favorite carriers, click the Carriers tab.

Note: Hospital staff members can define favorite diagnoses and carriers. However, they are not prompted to specify a diagnosis during order entry unless the patient or an insurance carrier is being billed. They are likewise not prompted to specify a carrier unless an insurance carrier is being billed. By default, the client is billed.

3 If you can access only one client, go to step 4.

To manage your favorites for a different client, click the appropriate one in the Client list.

To create a single set of favorite groups for all of the clients that you can access, click All Clients. (Your user name appears in parentheses after All Clients, indicating that these favorites will appear only for you.) Any favorites associated with individual clients will still be retained in the system, but you will not see the client-specific favorites during order entry. Instead, you will see the favorites associated with the All Clients option. To subsequently display the client-specific favorites, you must delete all of the groups from the All Clients option (as described in the next step).

Notes:  

• If you can access more than one client, your default client appears in the Client list automatically. You can change your default client via your user profile.

• Choosing All Clients has the following additional effects:

• The Client Favorites group will include the 15 most frequently used diagnoses or tests for all of the clients that you can access, not just the ordering client.

• You cannot add any restricted or limited access codes to your favorite tests.

• You cannot add any generic, client-specific, or custom carriers to your favorite carriers;

4 Do one or more of the following:

Note: The Client Favorites, Recently Ordered, and Companion Program groups do not appear on this page; you cannot modify or delete those groups via this page. However, you can remove codes from the Recently Ordered group via the streamlined Order Entry page. You can also hide the Client Favorites and Recently Orderedgroups via your user profile. In addition, you can work with the Patient Specific group only via the Order Entry page, as described in Manage Favorites via Legacy Order Entry and Manage Favorites via Streamlined Order Entry.

Copies of specialty grid groups also do not appear on this page. You can manage those groups only via the Order Entry page.

Click Add Group, type a name for the group, and then click Save.

Note: You can have up to 20 groups. For diagnoses, the Patient Specific and Client Favorites or Recently Orderedgroups count toward that maximum. For tests, the Client Favorites or Recently Orderedgroup counts toward that maximum.

a In the Favorite Group list, click the group to which you want to add a favorite.

b In the Add Codes list, type the appropriate text (such as the order code, test name, ICD code, diagnosis name, or carrier name or mnemonic).

A list of the first ten items that begin with the specified text appears. As you continue typing, this list displays more similar matches. When you see the appropriate item in the list, click that item.

Alternatively, type at least two characters that are not an asterisk (*), click Search, and then click the appropriate item in the search results. This list displays only the first 50 matching items, so if you do not see what you are looking for, type additional characters and click Search again.

Notes:  

• If a particular description is too long to display in its entirety, an ellipsis (...) appears. You can position the pointer over the visible portion to see the complete description.

• When adding tests, keep the following in mind:

• The list that appears when you begin typing excludes any aliases, handwritten order translations, and restricted or limited access codes. To see those items, click Search.

• You can search for an alias only if the lab supports that feature.

• When searching for an alias, do not include an asterisk as a wildcard. For aliases, the asterisk is treated like a character.

• You can add restricted or limited access codes only to clients that are allowed to use them.

• To find a custom profile, type the complete custom profile code and click Search. If you type a partial code or a custom profile description, or if you use an asterisk, the profile will not be found.

• If the specified text matches an alias, the word Alias appears in brackets after the test name. If the text matches a handwritten order translation, the word HOTT appears. If the text matches an alternate order code, the phrase Alt Mnemonic appears. If you searched for a custom profile, the order codes included in the profile appear in brackets after the profile description.

• To view details about a listed test, panel, or custom profile, click .

• You can add a non-conforming order code to your favorites, but you will not be able to use that code with a Medicare patient.

• When adding diagnoses, keep the following in mind:

You cannot add a diagnosis that requires a higher degree of specificity. For example, you could add B01.9 (Varicella without complication), but not B01 (Varicella [Chickenpox]).

• When adding carriers, keep the following in mind:

• The list that appears when you begin typing excludes any generic or custom carriers. To see those items, click Search.

• For generic carriers, the carrier name appears in both the Code and Description columns. The name of the associated generic lab appears in parentheses after the carrier name in the Description column.

• You can typically add only carriers that the selected client supports.

• If the desired carrier is not listed, you might be able to request a custom carrier.

a In the Favorite Group list, click the group that you want to rename.

b Click Rename Group.

c Type a new name for the group.

d Click Save.

a In the Favorite Group list, click the group that you want to copy.

b Click Copy Group.

c To copy the group to a different client, click the appropriate one in the Client list.

Note: You can copy a group that includes restricted or limited access codes, custom panels, custom carriers, generic carriers, and other carriers that the selected client might not support. However, you will not be able to use any of those items during order entry.

d To use a different name for the group than the one that appears automatically, type the desired name in the Enter Name box.

e Click Save.

a In the Favorite Group list, click the group that you want to delete.

b Click Delete Group.

c When the confirmation message appears, click OK.

Note: Sorting the favorites here has no effect on the order in which they appear on the Order Entry page. To change the order on the legacy Order Entry page, see Manage Favorites via Legacy Order Entry. (On the streamlined Order Entry page, you can change the sort order by clicking the Code or Description column headings. The sort order is retained only as long as you remain on that page.)

a In the Favorite Group list, click the group whose favorites you want to sort.

b On the right side of the page, do one of the following:

• To sort the items by order code, ICD code, or carrier mnemonic (or carrier name, for generic carriers), click the Code column heading.

• To sort the items by name, click the Description column heading.

Clicking the column heading again reverses the sort order.

a In the Favorite Group list, click the group that contains the favorites that you want to delete.

b Select the check box for each favorite that you want to delete.

To select or clear all of the check boxes, select or clear the check box in the column heading.

c Click Remove Selected.
