Manage Favorites via Streamlined Order Entry

1 In the menu bar, click Order Entry.

If the legacy Order Entry page appears, click the link in the banner at the top of the page to go to streamlined order entry. If that banner does not appear, see Manage Favorites via Legacy Order Entry.

Note: If you are currently accessing Athena Diagnostics (ZBD), you might be prompted to acknowledge that the financial terms are different than they are for other Quest Diagnostics orders. Click Accept if you agree to these terms. Otherwise, click Decline, click Continue on the next message, and then see Manage Favorites via Setup.

2 To manage favorites for a client other than your default client, in the Order Information section, specify the appropriate client (as described in Provide Order Information).

Note: If the client is allowed to use only specific carriers, all of the standard carriers assigned to that client automatically appear in the Available Carriers group, and all of the custom carriers that can be used by any client automatically appear in the Custom Carriers group. You cannot manage the favorite carriers for that client.

3 To manage your favorite carriers, in the Bill Type list in the Order Information section, click Insurance if it is not already selected. (If you are a hospital staff member and want to manage your favorite diagnoses, set Bill Type to Patient or Insurance. Otherwise, the Diagnoses section will not appear.)

Note: Insurance appears in the Bill Type list only if the specified client supports billing an insurance carrier.

4 To manage existing groups or favorites, go to step 5.

To copy a group from a specialty grid, go to step 6.

To add a favorite, go to the appropriate section (Diagnoses, Tests, or Insurance Information) and follow these steps:

Note: If you selected the Companion check box in the Tests section, you must clear it before you can add any tests to your favorites.

a To add a favorite that exists in another group, click the appropriate group in the select from list, click the item that you want to add to another group, and then go to step d.

To add a new favorite, type at least two characters of the diagnosis name, ICD code, test name, order code, or insurance carrier name. If the desired favorite appears in the list of the first ten matching items, click that item and go to step d. Otherwise, go to step b.

You can optionally include an asterisk as a wildcard.

Notes:

When adding favorite diagnoses, if the search encompasses a code that requires higher specificity, the related codes appear, even if they do not exactly match the search criteria. For example, if you search for *123, the search results would include 01230, 01231, and so forth, even though those codes do not end in 123. This is because the code 0123, which does match the search criteria, requires higher specificity.

When adding favorite tests, keep the following in mind:

The list that appears when you begin typing text does not include aliases or handwritten order translations. To view those items, you must click Search. For more information about aliases and handwritten order translations, see Aliases and Handwritten Order Translations.

If you are searching for an alias, do not include an asterisk. For aliases, the asterisk is treated like a character rather than a wildcard.

You cannot add a custom profile to your favorites via the streamlined Order Entry page. To do that, see Manage Favorites via Setup.

When adding favorite carriers, keep the following in mind:

You might be able to search by other key words, such as the carrier’s mnemonic, address, or other terms.

The search results do not include generic or custom carriers. The streamlined Order Entry page does not support generic carriers. To add a custom carrier to your favorites, see Manage Favorites via Setup.

You cannot add a carrier that is in the Custom Carriers group to any other group.

b Click Search.

c In the search results, click the item that you want to add to your favorites.

To add multiple favorites simultaneously, click more than one of the items in the search results. You can also search again to find additional favorites.

Note: For carriers, you can add only two favorites at a time, and only if the lab and client support secondary insurance. (Click the Primary option button and click your first favorite. Then click the Secondary option button and click your second favorite.) Otherwise, you must repeat this procedure one at a time for each favorite carrier.

d Click Save as Favorite.

Notes:

Under some circumstances, if a test is automatically routed to a different lab, you can add the original order code to your favorites for your current lab. Under other circumstances, if routing occurs, the Save as Favorite button does not appear.

You cannot add custom carriers to other groups of favorites. If all of the displayed carriers are custom carriers, the Save as Favorite button does not appear. If one is a standard carrier and one is a custom carrier, the Save as Favorite button appears, but only the standard carrier appears on the Save as Favorite dialog box.

e If you do not want to add one of the displayed items to your favorites, or if you do not want to add all of them to the same group, click next to each item that you want to omit.

f Do one of the following:

To add the listed items to an existing group of favorites, click the appropriate group in the Existing Favorites list.

To create a new group of favorites and add the listed items to that group, type the name of the group in the New Favorite Group box.

Notes:

For diagnoses and tests, the Recently Ordered group does not appear in the Existing Favorites list. Your 15 most recently used items appear in that group automatically.

For tests, the Companion Program group does not appear in the Existing Favorites list. Only an administrator can add tests to that group.

For carriers, the Custom Carriers group does not appear in the Existing Favorites list. That group is reserved for custom carriers, which are added to that list automatically.

You can have up to 20 groups, and the Patient Specific and Recently Ordered groups count toward that maximum.

g Click Save.

5 To manage existing groups and favorites, go to the appropriate section (Diagnoses, Tests, or Insurance Information) and follow these steps:

a Click .

Notes:

If you selected the Companion check box, this icon does not appear in the Tests section. You cannot modify the Companion Program group.

If the client is limited to specific carriers, this icon does not appear in the Insurance Information section. You cannot modify the Available Carriers or Custom Carriers group.

b In the list, click the group that you want to work with.

c Do one or more of the following:

Rename the group. Click Rename Group, type a new name for the group in the adjacent box, and then click Save.

Delete the group. Click Delete Group. If a confirmation message appears, click OK.

To prevent this message from appearing again, select the Do not ask me next time check box before you click OK. You can re-enable these messages via your user profile.

Set the default group. Select the Set as Default check box.

If this check box was selected and you clear it, no group will be the default group unless you subsequently select this check box for a different group.

Remove a favorite. Click next to each favorite that you want to remove.

Notes:

You cannot rename or delete the Recently Ordered, Patient Specific, or Custom Carriers group.

You cannot set the Patient Specific group as your default diagnosis group. However, if there is no other default group, and a diagnosis is associated with the patient, the Patient Specific group always opens automatically.

If you set Recently Ordered as the default group, no group will be the default group on the legacy Order Entry page. The Recently Ordered group does not appear on that page.

You cannot remove any favorites from the Custom Carriers group.

d Click Done.

6 To copy a group from a specialty grid, follow these steps:

a In the Tests section, click .

b Click Copy Specialty Group.

Note: The Copy Specialty Group link appears only if your current lab supports this feature.

c In the list, click the group that you want to add to your favorites.

All of the tests associated with that group appear, along with a message advising you that you will not be able to manage this group via the Setup menu.

d To use a different name for the group, type the new name in the adjacent box.

e Click Save.

f Click Done.

Note: After you copy a group from a specialty grid, you can perform any actions on your copy, such as renaming the group, adding or removing favorites, and so forth. If any changes are made to the specialty grid by an administrator, those changes are not automatically made to your copy. To receive those changes, you must repeat the process of copying the specialty group.

In addition, you cannot manage your copy of a specialty group via the Favorites Maintenance page.
