Add a Routing Rule

1 Display the existing routing rules, if any (as described in View the Order Routing Rules.)

2 In the Route To area, in the Lab list, click the lab where the order should be sent.

This list displays all of the labs that you can access except for the one specified in the Route From area and the route-to labs in any existing rules. It also includes all of the generic labs that are assigned to the chosen client. If a listed generic lab uses a standard compendium of order codes, the name of the national generic lab appears in parentheses after the generic lab’s name. For information about generic labs and order codes, see Labs and Tests for Generic and Non-Electronic Labs.

3 In the Client list, click the client that you want to use at the specified lab.

This list displays all of the clients that are assigned to you for the specified lab and that support ordering. If you chose a generic lab in the Lab list, this list is limited to those clients of the lab specified in the Route From area that can place orders with that generic lab.

4 In the Order Code box, specify the order code used for the test at the target lab as described in steps 5and 6 . (If you chose a generic lab in the Lab list, and that lab does not use a standard compendium of order codes, you must add the order code to the system before you can type it here. For more information, see Managing Generic or Client-Defined Tests.)

5 Click Add.

The requested rule appears in the list of rules, and the letter A appears on the right side, indicating that this is a new rule.

6 To request additional routing rules, repeat steps 25.

You can also edit any of the listed rules (as described in Change an Existing Routing Rule), delete an existing rule (as described in Delete an Existing Routing Rule), or change the order of the rules (as described in Change the Order of the Routing Rules).

7 In the Requester Information area, if any required information (Name, Email, and Phone) is missing or incorrect, provide the appropriate information.

This area should display the contact information for the ordering provider or the appropriate person to contact with any questions about this request.

8 To include any comments, type them in the Comments area.

9 Click Submit.

A message indicates that your request has been submitted, and you will be contacted when your request has been completed.
